Bronze Casting
I came to this process through an interest in materiality and a love of learning new techniques. Lost-wax casting captures incredible detail, holding every texture and fiber of the original, so it becomes both a material study and a way of elevating the object into something permanent and precious.
I cast hand-knitted textiles, knotted ropes, and a few found natural objects from a place that means a lot to me. In casting, the original is completely burned away in the kiln, leaving a hollow exactly where it used to be, which molten bronze then fills. What remains is a perfect, permanent record of something that no longer exists, every fiber and vein preserved in solid metal.
